About Me

About me… I must admit, I’ve played on this page for quite some time… I honestly don’t know if it is because I’m afraid of facing the blogging challenge or because I don’t know what to write… I find writing this page absolutely challenging. I don’t feel I’m an expert or experienced enough to deserve an “about” page. If I had to describe myself using one word, I’d say: “I’m a learner”… I’ve always loved learning and discovering new worlds.

When I was 5 years old, I fell in love with the English language. I had an ESL teacher, Daniela (I can’t remember her last name), she absolutely loved teaching, I can still remember her classes, how fun they were! I can still “see” her worksheets in every blank piece of paper in my hands. I just wanted to learn English, funny, because I’m from Argentina, my native language is Spanish. It was then, when I realized I had also fallen in love with teaching… I would spend hours pretending I was a teacher. I’d plan my classes as if I was going teach them. I’d spend all my allowance on English books, and not just reading books… books for ESL students, and believe it or not, I’d also buy books for teachers… and yes, I was only a kid.

When I was 9 years old, I had the chance to go to Disney World for the first time. Imagine how excited I was… savoring the unforgettable opportunity of spending time in a country where everyone spoke English… One day walking around the Magic Kingdom, I came across a caricature artist. He made a living out of drawing caricatures of children just by asking them a question: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”… There I was, surrounded by magical English sounds, amazed by the dream-like world of Disney… it was the perfect picture. It was at that exact moment when I said the magic words: “I want to be an English teacher”

It took me some time to embrace my journey into teaching. I’ve had my doubts and fears, but as the proverb says: “All roads lead to Rome”, Oh yes they do… Here I am, feeling absolutely blessed, teaching English as a second language at an elementary school. I’ve always dreamed of being a teacher. Just being able to say these magic words is blissfully exciting, “I’m a teacher”… My lifetime dream has come true.
